HRC wants Michigan voters to be heard. The rest of us, on the other hand....
Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 11:46:36 AM PDT
Using the logic of the Clinton campaign, Barack Obama doesn't to discount the votes in two states. Hillary, on the other hand, seems to want to discount all 50:
Well, 50 plus DC, Americans' abroad, Guam, VI, PR, and anybody else I'm forgetting.
The latest from MI appears to be this: An idea proposed by Chris Dodd to split the MI delegates 50/50 -- supported by the Obama campaign and nixed by the Clinton team. No surprise on either end, but I can’t get over the rank hypocrisy by the Clinton campaign on this:
"Michigan is populated by people, not numbers, and those people need to have their voices heard in this process," said Clinton spokesman Phil Singer.
1,000,000 Visits Today
Mon Feb 11, 2008 at 02:20:32 PM PDT
This place is going to hell in a hand-basket. At least, that's the feeling one would get from reading some of the "you people get serious" diaries that arise every now and then.
No doubt, communal self-criticism has its merits. But the bottom-line, sine-qua-non metric for a democratic site, whose purpose is to help elect Democratic candidates, has to be the number of people visiting. Assuming that the vast majority of those aren't trolls, O'reilly spies, or whatever else.
With that in mind, today seems to be a milestone in dkos history. According to the TTLB ecosystem, which ranks and compares various blogs based on their traffic and inbound links, the "daily visits" metric for the Daily Kos passed 1-million today.
I've decided. You can stop holding your breath
Wed Jan 30, 2008 at 06:57:30 PM PDT
I know -- I’ve been posting here for several months and have written 5 diaries to date. You’ve probably been wondering when I would announce my decision. You need wait no more.
But before I do it, I just want to say that there has been a lot of invective hurled by supporters of both Obama and Clinton. Most of it, however, has been from Obama supporters. Before you rationalize that by pointing out that Obama supporters outnumber Clinton supporters at dkos, remember -- this election is primarily about Me. And My wounded feelings.
That out of the way, its time for me to announce my decision. At the end of the day, there was only one candidate worthy of my tide-turning vote...
New SC poll: Cross-Tabs
Tue Jan 22, 2008 at 02:03:31 PM PDT
Public Policy Polling, a North Carolina-based outfit, has just released results of their newest Democratic primary poll. This was done yesterday (Jan 21), so it seems unlikely the debate would have had any influence on it.
Disclaimer: I'm an Obama supporter.
But, I'm also a poll geek, and I find the demographic breakdown especially fascinating, and in some ways, troubling.
Jean Carnahan Endorses Obama
Sun Jan 20, 2008 at 11:30:28 AM PDT
From the "this just in" department (I'm too low key to put "breaking" in my diary headlines).
Former senator Jean Carnahan, widow of the late Mel Carnahan, Will endorseObama tomorrow.
Are we too old?
Fri Jan 04, 2008 at 10:08:39 AM PDT
Yes, this is more on the Obama youth vote, which may have been beaten to death at this point. But, I'd like to add two observations -- one anecdotal and one with numbers -- to the story.

The Real Mike Huckabee: Liberalism Cancer on Christianity
Sun Dec 16, 2007 at 07:15:48 PM PDT
Now, I've enjoyed, as much as anybody, the right-wing apoplexy over the sudden rise in the popularity of Mike Huckabee.
And, like some, I think Huckabee may be the most easily defeatable of the Republicans, and even relish the possibility of a Dem vs. Huckabee contenst, as a true battle of ideas that we would almost certainly win.
I'm sure most folks around here are aware that he is the nuttiest of the wingnuts -- but its worth getting some pithy quotes down, so that we can get that across in public debate, to those who buy into Huckabee's promise to unite a polarized country.
Thanksfully, the right-wingers at NewsMax have assembled such a list (I guess they thought these were good things) from todays NYT NYT Magazine interview with Huck.
NPR won’t let anti-Hillary story die.
Fri Nov 09, 2007 at 10:37:47 AM PDT
I’m not a supporter, but if my enemy’s enemy is my friend, Hillary is my soul mate.
The NPR debacleis only one example. It’s old news now (18 hours or so), but the Clinton campaign was alleged not to have left a tip at an Iowa diner. Quickly picked up by Drudge and others, and the focus of a Dkos entry, the quick aside in the NPR story got legs.
